The Insanity Asylum workout showed up on my front porch today. Very excited to get it after learning about it last winter. Knowing it was going to be released a little bit before summer I focused on lifting heavier weights as its pretty much a guarantee that Shaun T is going to cardio the crap out of us.
Anyways, lets see what the Insanity Asylum workout came with. As you can see from the photo it comes with the Insanity Asylum workout dvds, a jump rope, and an agility ladder. When I saw the ladder I kept thinking it was going to be like field day in elementary school. Speed has always been a weakness of mine so the jump rope and ladder are going to suck for the first couple of weeks but I know I’m going to get a lot out of it. The Insanity Asylum workout I received was the basic package. There are other packages that come with an extra band. I won mine through a Beachbody Coach contest (that’s autographed by Shaun T) so I’m gonna have to buy the band.
What Comes In The Insanity Asylum Workout Box?
Disc 1 : Athletic Performance Assessment – I’m guessing to show how weak sauce you are.
Disc 2 : Speed and Agility – To build “cat like reflexes and speed of a mongoose.”
Disc 3 : Vertical Plyo and Relief – Two workouts
Disc 4 : Strength & Strength w/Bands – Two workouts. One sounds a little harder.
Disc 5 : Game Day and Overtime – Two workouts. I’m figuring one to show how much you got and the other how much you got got.
Disc 6 : Back to Core – Looks like a ab / back workout.
Whats In the Insanity Asylum Workout Guide Book?
Its a 20 page book that goes over the basics of each workout and some of the moves. Gives some great tips and a place to write down your progress with the workouts and meal plan. Kind of like a diary. I’m really liking how Beachbody is simplifying the guide books. The original Insanity and P90X workout guide book had too much info. Kind of liking how they ended the book with a blip about the Beachbody Coach opportunity.
Any Good Tips In The Insanity Asylum Workout Meal Plan?
I’d have to say yes. Its basically a 45 page picture book on what to eat. Its Shaun T’s 14 day plan to getting ripped. You might be thinking that 45 pages is a lot but most of it is very simple stuff. This should be a big help to everybody including myself. I remember the first time I opened the P90X meal plan book and was like are you kidding me. There was too much. In this meal plan they have suggested a small amount of foods to eat over the 30 days with the Insanity Asylum workout. Another thing I like about it is they did a little bio about what Shaun T does on a day to day basis. He even admits to eating 3 small donuts a month. Its little things like that which help the normal person connect with the trainers as we all have our food weaknesses too.
What’s Different About The Insanity Asylum Workout Calendar?
When I first opened up the Insanity Asylum Workout Calendar it looked like just about any other calendar Beachbody had come up with. Mainly a place for you to know what workouts to do the following day. However, when I flipped it over they had a complete hybrid schedule to be done with the original Insanity workout and P90X. Beachbody is listening to their coaches and customers. From the looks of it you can do the Insanity Asylum Workout for 30 days then the next 30 with Insanity followed by 30 more with a Asylum / P90X hybrid. Guessing you could switch the two if you wanted to. Kind of cool that they did it. Gives all of us a plan and something to look forward to after the finishing the 30 days with Asylum.
What Are Your Expectations For The Insanity Asylum Workout?
Pain. Probably lots of pain. Haven’t been doing that much cardio over the past couple months besides some swimming and a little bit of snowboarding. My goal is to lean and tone up the 5 – 10 pounds of muscle I put on over the past 4 months doing the P90X One on One workouts. From the looks of it, I’m guessing the Insanity Asylum workout will do just that.

Oh my God Brad that looks insane! It looks to me like you are going to suffer for the first couple of weeks. I can’t wait to see the results when you are done. We are watching so keep us posted.
