Feeling Sore After Doing P90X Chest And Back And Plyometrics DVD

By Brad Gibala On October 10, 2008 No Comments

Just catching up on a couple days off from writing. Over the past couple of days I did the P90X Chest and Back DVD and Plyometrics. It had been some time since I had done the chest and back workout. For some reason I skip over it a lot and I now remember why. It is hard. All of those push ups and pull ups really get into my head. Its not that I can't do them, its just that you use pretty much every muscle in your upper body while doing it. Also, I have not been doing that many chest exercises in the past couple of weeks. With the cardio routine that I have been sticking to for the most part I substituted a lot of chest workouts with a swimming workout. As we all know, swimming for the most part is all upper body. I have not felt like I have not been working on those muscles but just different parts of those. I was still able to match all of my P90X results from the last time I had done the chest and back workout but man was I feeling sore the next day. Every time I looked at that chin up bar I really had to get pumped to rip out a couple reps.

I worked out in the morning because I had a softball game at night. It was windy and it was blowing in from right to left. This did not help me because I am keeping to my goal of hitting a home run. Talk about getting close. I turned on one and I remember it heading down the line. In my head I was like "I got it." Rounding first base I saw the left fielder still running. While running to second I saw the ball hit the bottom of the fence. The ball traveled 330 feet but needed to hang in the air another half a second and it would of cleared the 7 foot fence. Disappointed I was but a stand up triple is not the bad. It was a shame that the wind was gusting up to 15 mph because it was still that ball would have carried. Crazy thing is that I did the same thing two innings later. This time I hit it to left center and it hit the warning track. Stupid wind knocking down the ball. I know I have said it before, but P90X is a great softball workout and it will help you hit for power. I have two more weeks to hit one out and then playoffs. Hopefully the wind will be blowing out one of this weeks and I can achieve this goal of mine.

So the next day I woke up and my arms and chest were tight and sore from doing P90X chest and back along with two softball games. It hurt to do any kind of stretching. I had planned to go swimming but I knew that doing so would just destroy my arms and I didn't want to feel all sore before this weekend. I am going up to my college's homecoming football game and would like to enjoy it instead of not being able to lift my arms up. Doing P90X Plyometrics DVD was the logical choice. This way I could get the legs warmed up and burn off some major calories before I head up to the old stomping grounds for the weekend. No problems getting through Plyometrics. It doesn't matter how hard I work at that P90X DVD it is always going to burn some major calories. This P90X workout always makes me feel it the next day but I like it.

Not much else to do now but get ready for the weekend. I'll probably go for a 5 mile run today to burn off as many calories as I can because I know I am going to consuming a ton more at tailgating. Next week I know I am going to have to work extra hard at P90X because I know I am going to party it up this weekend.

I Am Still Feeling Sore From Doing P90X Plyometrics DVD

A couple of days ago my brother actually called me out and said we needed to workout. This is before I did the P90X Back And Biceps DVD the other day. He wanted to do the Plyometrics DVD pretty bad. I would say that the Plyometrics DVD is the hardest to do out of all of the P90X DVDs. There is just something about doing lunges and jumping around for an hour that really is a calorie burner. I remember the first couple of times that I did Plyometrics I could barely walk the next day.

After a couple weeks of doing Plyometrics I was able to hang and it actually became one of my favorite P90X workouts to do. My legs were in the best shape ever. I noticed more strength every where. It helped out greatly when I went skiing this past winter in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. My friends had not been working out before the trip and I was doing Plyometrics twice a week. Needless to say that after the first run at Jackson Hole I was feeling fine and my friends legs were on fire. The runs are a little steeper in Wyoming than in Colorado and other places we have gone.

Getting back to my current soreness in my legs. My brother and I did Plyometrics and I felt like I did great. Funny thing about Plyometrics is that you really do not feel the soreness until about two days after. Its been interesting trying to walk up and down stairs and even play in my softball game last night. Its a good thing I know, but I still cannot believe that it hurts a little some three days later. Spending a whole day on my legs painting did not help that much either. When I was done painting my brother and I did P90X Yoga X to try and loosen up our legs. It just tells me that I should not skip any days and that sticking on my cardio routine is going to help me out tremendously.
