<p>Program: P90X, Weight Lifting</p>
<p><strong>What made you decide to start P90X? <strong>Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?</strong><br />
</strong><br />
I had been working out for about ten years. I mainly did weight lifting mixed in with a little bit of cardio and playing some sports. One of my friends, Brad Gibala, kept telling me I should check out this P90X workout. I had seen the infomercials and I was intrigued so I figured I would give it a shot, but I have to be honest I was skeptical at first. After the second day I was a believer and I feel in love with this program and became a coach. If P90X was not real I would have just stopped after a week or two and did my own routine. Tony Horton is the man and he is the worlds best trainer, no doubt.</p>
<p><strong>What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?</strong><br />
I really did not have any huge obstacles. I am really driven, especially when it comes to my health. I just told myself to stick to the program and not veer from it in anyway, this way I could see honestly how good or bad it was. Now that is not to say the program wasn't difficult for me. It was very hard, and I had already been in great shape so that is what I loved. This program pushed me to be better when I thought I was at my peak and it got me there. I would not let myself fail.</p>
<p><strong>How has P90X changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?</strong><br />
My body fat percentage, was already around 8-9% and I was at a weight I was very happy with, but P90X got me even more ripped and I lost about 5 pounds. I now look more ripped then I ever have in my life. It also exposed me to Yoga. I thought yoga was weird and useless. Now I love it, I think it is a great part of any workout program and like Tony Horton says, "It is the fountain of Youth". Bottom line, the P90X expanded my horizons in the fitness world.</p>
<p><strong>You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?</strong><br />
I like helping others the most. That is what I enjoy about being a coach. I know a lot about fitness and have been working out for so long, this is a passion to me and I love to share my knowledge that I have gathered on my own. I also like the discounts, I not only use them for myself but for my family as well!</p>

Nothing that was said or written is new to me but its cool to see P90X getting some airtime on the major networks. Darren Rovell said he is going to be starting P90X on July 1st and they even talked about the <a href="http://workoutjourney.com/recommends/beachbodycoach" style="color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;" target="_blank" >Beachbody Coach</a> business.</p>

</style><p><a href="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/p90x-dvd-cost.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2088" title="Why is P90X so Expensive?" src="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/p90x-dvd-cost.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="279" /></a>I have read a lot of comments and talked to people who have said they really want to do P90X but its just too expensive for them. I understand that the $120 price tag might seem like a lot for a home workout program at first but you really have to break down what you get to justify the cost of it.</p>
<p>When you buy the P90X workout program you get:</p>
<p>1. 12 one hour long workouts and two recently added bonus workouts. Its like buying 14 different movies. A new movie on DVD costs around $15. Since each <a title="P90X DVD" href="http://workoutjourney.com/p90x-dvds" target="_blank">P90X DVD</a> isn't an hour and a half like a normal movie lets say each DVD is worth $10. So 12 workouts X $10 = $120. I'm not going to count the bonus workouts.</p>
<p>2. The 100 page <a title="P90X Workout Guide Book" href="http://workoutjourney.com/where-can-i-get-the-p90x-workout-guides" target="_blank">P90X workout guide book</a> shows you exactly what to do and more importantly how to do it. The <a title="Men Health" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1579547699?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=onlinecalcul-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=1579547699" target="_blank">Men's Health: Book of Muscle</a> sells for about $23 on Amazon. Its a book about the different types of exercises you can do. I did not buy it but it looks very similar to the P90X workout guide except that its not program specific. So let's say the P90X guide book would sell for $20 on its own.</p>
<p>3. 114 page meal plan called the <a title="P90X 3 Phase Nutrition Plan" href="http://workoutjourney.com/p90x-3-phase-nutrition-plan" target="_blank">P90X 3 Phase Nutrition Plan</a>. Its full of recipes and tells you what and when to eat. The closest book I could find to this was <a title="Eat Fit: Be Fit" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1418038431?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=onlinecalcul-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=1418038431" target="_blank">Eat Fit: Be Fit</a> which sells for $26. I did not buy it but the description looks similar to the P90X Nutrition Plan. Let's say the P90X meal plan book would sell for $20 individually.</p>
<p>4. P90X Calendar to keep track of your progress. I won't give it a $ value.</p>
<p>Adding it all up:</p>
<p>14 P90X workout DVDS                  $120</p>
<p>P90X Guide Book                              $20</p>
<p>P90X 3 Phase Nutrition Plan       $20</p>
<p>=                                                             $160</p>
<p>So based on those numbers, P90X is under priced by $40. If anything, Beachbody should be selling it for more. Of course I don't want them to but they can justify the $120 cost of it.</p>
<p>I look at it as a investment now. I've done 4 rounds of P90X and it basically has become my workout plan. No more going to the gym. If you look at how much a gym membership costs a year you would be saving money. My gym membership use to cost $720 a year. Trainers and meal plans were extra...a lot extra.</p>
<p>Don't talk yourself out of <a title="Buy P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com/where-can-you-buy-the-p90x-workout-dvd-for-cheap" target="_blank">buying P90X</a> because of the price. Its a investment into your health and fitness. Give it a shot. I know you'll get hooked on it like I did. If your still concerned about the price then sign up as a <a href="http://workoutjourney.com/recommends/beachbodycoach" style="color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;" target="_blank" >Beachbody Coach</a> like I did and get a 25% discount on it.</p>

I came across the article in the <a title="US Magazine" href="http://www.usmagazine.com/healthylifestyle/news/dwts-erin-andrews-im-losing-my-butt-and-boobs-2010214">US Magazine</a> that my girlfriend has sent to our house. I can't stand the magazine because I feel dumber when I'm done reading it (more like flipping through the pages). Somehow I flipped to the exact page with her on it and P90X jumped out of the article at me. Its probably because I'm addicted to P90X. Here is what she said.</p>
<blockquote><p>"I also did P90X [an exercise DVD set combining plyometrics, martial arts and yoga] with the ESPN guys on the road," adds the nondieter, who has even begun indulging in desserts and regular Coke ("because it has more calories!") to stop shrinking. "</p></blockquote>
<p style="text-align: left;">She also said that all of the dancing has caused her to lose 10 pounds. Good luck with DWTS Erin. So that's one more celebrity type person doing P90X.</p>

</style><p><a href="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/p90x-celebrity.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-1984" title="P90X Celebrities" src="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/p90x-celebrity.jpg" alt="" width="250" height="385" /></a>With all of the popularity behind P90X you would be thinking that there has to be some celebrity endorsing it. There are famous people out there like <a title="Pink" href="http://workoutjourney.com/pink-does-p90x" target="_blank">Pink</a>, <a title="Jerry Stackhouse" href="http://workoutjourney.com/jerry-stackhouse-does-p90x" target="_blank">Jerry Stackhouse</a>, <a title="Sheryl Crow" href="http://workoutjourney.com/sheryl-crow-does-p90x" target="_blank">Sheryl Crow</a>, <a title="John Salley" href="http://workoutjourney.com/john-salley-does-p90x" target="_blank">John Salley</a>, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher who talk about doing P90X to get into great shape. But you never see any of them on the P90X infomercials. Why is that?</p>
<p>When I was on the <a title="Top Coach Trip" href="http://workoutjourney.com/day-5-top-beachbody-coach-trip-2010-kauai-hawaii" target="_blank">Top Coach</a> trip in Kauai, Hawaii this past March I was able to get to know a couple of Beachbody's employees. They got to go on the excursions while video taping us doing the ziplining, surfing, and workouts. Pretty sweet perk of the job to say the least. I'm not a employee so I had to earn my way out there.</p>
<p>After our ziplining tour was over we went and hung out at the pool. I was talking to this guy named Loren about P90X and Beachbody in general. I asked him why I don't see any celebrities endorsing P90X. He told me that they have lots of celebrities stop into the Beachbody corporate offices all the time and that his desk is in a perfect spot to see who walks in. Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Emmit Smith, one of the Kardashians, and a couple others have popped in.</p>
<p>He went on to tell me that Beachbody will not partner up with any celebrities to endorse <a title="P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com/where-can-you-buy-the-p90x-workout-dvd-for-cheap" target="_blank">P90X</a> or any other Beachbody products. This confused me a little bit at first because I'm so accustomed to seeing celebrities pushing everything. Loren told me that the reason why Beachbody does not do this is because the second a celebrity endorses a product it now appeals to a smaller crowd. P90X is a workout for male, females, young and old. If you were to have somebody like Emmit Smith push it then everybody would think that P90X is only for elite athletes and would not even consider it.</p>
<p>With Beachbody relying on their advertising, word of mouth, and the results from the millions of people (myself included) that did P90X is why it appeals to a large group of people. This immediately made sense to me. People are going to believe a non celebrities statement more than any celebrity. Its because we are wired to believe that the famous person is doing it for the cash and not because the product actually changed them. This is why you see normal people talking about their <a title="P90X Results" href="http://workoutjourney.com/my-p90x-results" target="_blank">P90X results</a> on the infomercials and banner ads going around the Internet from Beachbody.</p>
<p>P90X has grown into a cult like following from normal people sharing what worked for them. Knowing that Beachbody is not going to hire celebrities to push their products means we are going to have to deal with the real P90X celebrity, Tony Horton.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;"><object id="flashObj" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="486" height="412" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="flashVars" value="videoId=73306306001&amp;playerID=19407224001&amp;domain=embed&amp;" /><param name="base" value="http://admin.brightcove.com" /><param name="seamlesstabbing" value="false" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="swLiveConnect" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/19407224001?isVid=1&amp;publisherID=1155968404" /><param name="name" value="flashObj" /><param name="flashvars" value="videoId=73306306001&amp;playerID=19407224001&amp;domain=embed&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed id="flashObj" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="486" height="412" src="http://c.brightcove.com/services/viewer/federated_f9/19407224001?isVid=1&amp;publisherID=1155968404" bgcolor="#FFFFFF" flashvars="videoId=73306306001&amp;playerID=19407224001&amp;domain=embed&amp;" base="http://admin.brightcove.com" seamlesstabbing="false" allowfullscreen="true" swliveconnect="true" allowscriptaccess="always" name="flashObj"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">I do my best to not talk about Politics on this site as I want it to keep it about staying healthy. If you are interested in my political views I am neither a Democrat or Republican. They have both failed us. However, I did listen to Rep. Ryan debate against Obamacare last week and he sounded way more informed then every body debating for it. After seeing this atrocious bill get passed I hope people consider learning how to take care of themselves. If you thought health care was bad before, imagine how bad its going to be when the Govt runs it all. With that, you better be doing a workout like P90X and following the meal plan so you won't get sick or injured as often. Going to the Dr.s office will not be the same anymore as your Dr. will soon be answering to Nancy Pelosi.</p>

</style><p>After our morning workout on the <a title="Third Day Beachbody Coach Trip" href="http://workoutjourney.com/day-3-top-beachbody-coach-trip-2010-kauai-hawaii" target="_blank">third day of the Top Coach trip</a> Tony Horton told us a story about getting approached on the plane ride from California to Hawaii by a guy in a hooded sweatshirt and dark sunglasses. Tony said this guy came up to him and was like "Are you Tony." "Yes," says Tony. The guy continues on with something like "I've got my whole crew doing the <a title="P90X Workout" href="http://workoutjourney.com" target="_blank">P90X workout</a> and its awesome."  Tony did not know who this guy was until he introduced himself as <a title="Rob Dyrdek" href="http://www.dyrdek.com/index.php" target="_blank">Rob Dyrdek</a>. Here is Tony talking about meeting him.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="425" height="344" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bJpCIuUbTQY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="344" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bJpCIuUbTQY&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object></p>
<p>I'm guessing Tony does not watch Fantasy Factory or he would of known who Rob was. I watch it when ever I can and would love to get on the tennis ball launcher sometime. I really enjoy how he turns the fun he has with his life into a business. Every time I watch the show I'm mentally taking notes about how I could do what he does and make it apart of my life.</p>
<p><a href="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/rob-dyrdek-p90x.jpg"><img class="alignright size-large wp-image-1909" title="Rob Dyrdek" src="http://workoutjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/rob-dyrdek-p90x-300x273.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="273" /></a>We heard that Rob was in Kauai with Laird Hamilton shooting some upcoming episodes for Fantasy Factory. They were trying to teach skaters how to do tow-in-surfing. From what I saw when I was there I don't know how good the waves were for that. I only remember one day where I saw jet skis pulling people into waves and those were not that great from my view. Robs <a title="Rob Dyrdek" href="http://twitter.com/robdyrdek/status/10525452776" target="_blank">Twitter account</a> and <a title="Laird Hamilton" href="http://www.lairdhamilton.com/index.php/2010/03/16/rob-dyrdek-experiences-lairds-life/" target="_blank">Lairds website</a> confirm the lack of waves.</p>
<p>On our last night at the St. Regis a fellow <a href="http://workoutjourney.com/recommends/beachbodycoach" style="color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;" target="_blank" >Beachbody Coach</a> told me that Rob was in the restaurant eating with Laird and that he got his photo with him. I walked down to the restaurant with Andrea to take a look and sure enough he was there. Rob was eating already and I decided to not interrupt making me an A-Hole. Being rude is not my style. So I snapped this photo instead. Its not a great one but you can see him. The wall got in the way blocking Laird.</p>

This is what you need to do.</p>
<p>1. Get a <a href="http://workoutjourney.com/go/freebeachbodyaccount" style="color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;color:#0000FF;" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" >Free Beachbody Account</a>.</p>
<p>2. Hover over the Get Fit tab.</p>
<p>3. Click on the Fitness Tools tab.</p>
<p>4. Click on Workout Sheets.</p>
<p>Inside you will find the P90X Fit Test and P90X Workout Sheets available to be printed. Its not the actual "P90X Workout Guide" but it does tell you what week to do each workout. It will also help you keep track of your reps and weights used. The only way to get the actual guide is to <a title="Buy P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com/where-can-you-buy-the-p90x-workout-dvd-for-cheap" target="_blank">buy P90X</a>. If you do not want to do that then this is your best option.</p>

</style><p>I've already written about how <a title="Pink Does P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com/pink-does-p90x" target="_blank">Pink does P90X</a> but yesterday she was on the Oprah Winfrey show talking with Oprah about how she uses P90X to get in shape for her tours. Here is the video.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="560" height="340" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/t8hoUG2kKwE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="340" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/t8hoUG2kKwE&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">She would go on to say that she gets a little bulky doing it because she was a gymnast when she was younger so those muscles are still there. Oprah asked her about the "man abs" she got from doing it too. Maybe Oprah should start doing <a title="P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com" target="_blank">P90X</a> so then I don't have to hear about her struggle with weight gain anymore on the news.</p>

</style><p>Another pro athlete is using P90X and this time its Milwaukee Buck Jerry Stackhouse.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><object id="ep" classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="388" height="394" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="wmode" value="transparent" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000" /><param name="src" value="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&amp;videoId=channels/nba_tv/2010/01/20/20100120_alink_stackhouse.nba" /><embed id="ep" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="388" height="394" src="http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/swf/1.1/cvp/nba_embed_container.swf?context=nba&amp;videoId=channels/nba_tv/2010/01/20/20100120_alink_stackhouse.nba" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" wmode="transparent"></embed></object></p>
<p style="text-align: left;">Jerry Stackhouse came out of retirement to play again and finish his career on his own terms. Jerry and former pro basketball player Kenny Smith both said "that thing works" while Jerry was giving the cross arm "X" that Tony Horton does in all of the videos. After not playing for half of the season his coach Scott Skiles said he could not believe the shape Jerry came back in. After another minute of talking hoops Kenny Smith said it was <a title="Yoga X" href="http://workoutjourney.com/p90x-yoga-x" target="_blank">Yoga</a> night for him. So there is another athlete praising the benefits of <a title="P90X" href="http://workoutjourney.com" target="_blank">P90X</a>.</p>
