Last weekend I decided to see what it would be like to work a Business / Franchise Expo Event. I have been doing pretty well as a Beachbody Coach since I joined this past January. Over the past month or two its become more than just a way for me to stay in shape and promoting what I'm doing. People I don't even know are sending me their P90X before and after photos saying how much they love P90X and that it changed their life. That's powerful stuff. All I did was tell them what it did for me and offered some encouragement and tips here and there.

I figured its time to get the message out even more than I am doing right now. I found out about a Business Franchise Expo at the Rock Financial Showplace in Novi, Michigan.  It was scheduled for the following weekend so I did not have that much time to prepare. Let alone, I've never worked a booth before. I've only been the person walking around the expo. Since there is a business opportunity with being a coach I thought it would be a good fit.

I invited some other coaches in my local area to attend it with me so they could get an opportunity to talk about what P90X has done for them. Nine people including myself worked the booth over two days. In the photo from left to right is Silvano, his brother Gianni, my girlfriend Andrea, and me. Gianni has lost 28 pounds doing P90X and is now doing Rev Abs. Silvano just started doing P90X and has lost 5 pounds. Andrea loves ChaLean Extreme. Even though she still has a week left, we took her measurements the other day and she has lost 10% body fat!! 

Two things stuck out in my mind during the event. The first one was how many people came up to me and said "I lost 30 pounds doing P90X" or "I love P90X." It proves how awesome P90X as a product is. The other one was what the other booths around us were promoting. The majority of them were promoting health drinks and a pixie stick type thing or as I like to think about it as the "Magic Pill."

We all know there is no "Magic Pill" but people keep getting tricked by it. When I would glance over at another booth and see people drinking a sample of their product that promotes the answer to a healthy life I became a bit puzzled. The reason was because the person selling it didn't look healthy at all and most were over weight. How is that a good representation of the product? Its not.

My next favorite one was a slimming garment that promoted "losing 3 sizes in 30 seconds." You put this thing on that felt like Kevlar and it sucked every thing in. I kept thinking, so what happens when you take it off. Don't the 3 sizes come right back? I kept seeing a lot of over weight men and women who would look at my table and see what we are about and say "that's too hard" and go right to the slimming garment and be happy as hell.

If you have ever done P90X or any other Beachbody workout, you know that those 3 sizes will be gone forever with a little determination and effort. But as my buddy Joe says, 90 days is just too long. People want the results right now. Its sad, but true. We had the table with the answers but people walked by us looking for the quick fix. Joe even did the Insanity workout in the aisle way to show people how crazy it (and he) was.

All in all it was a good experience. We met some people who knew about the products and we talked to them about the business part of it. It was not that good of a turn out unfortunately. The company putting on the event said 1800 people showed up last year and I think there might have been 500 over both days. We had a good time and it was great to see my friends talking to strangers about what P90X did for them. We now know what to do for the next expo we attend.

Beachbody Coaches At The Rock Financial Showplace Business Franchise Expo

You might be wondering what a Coach is and I am happy to tell you. First off you need to know that I am a customer of Beachbody and not a employee. Beachbody makes P90X, Insanity, and many other home workout programs which I have used to get into shape.

I am not a fitness or nutrition expert. I'm a normal guy who struggled (got bored) to stay in shape while going to gyms over the years and now found a better way. I let the experts at Beachbody tell me what to do. They develop the workouts and nutrition plans and I follow them. When I get done with one workout I go and buy a new one. Doing this has helped me get into great shape in my home. I canceled my $720 a year gym membership because of this.

When you sign up to be a Beachbody Coach the two biggest benefits you get are a 25% discount on all Beachbody products and the opportunity to run a business. Beachbody's customers were getting such great results from the workouts that friends, family, co-workers, etc. were asking them what they were doing to get into shape. They would tell them and then go buy the products from Beachbody directly. Beachbody decided to start the Coach program rewarding people who share their experiences.

I had done two rounds of P90X before I found out about the Coach opportunity in Jan 2009. I wish I would of found out sooner as friends saw my results and ended up buying P90X. I would of earned $550 if I'd been a Coach and referred them. The 25% discount on the products was still enough to make me join. While continuing with the workouts I did the business part time. My commitment to the workouts and business came together when I won Top Coach for Region 5 Summer 2009. This meant a lot to me as there was a couple thousand coaches going for this award. Don't let the title of Coach deter you from signing up. I look at it as a way to answer questions about the products because I do them already. If anything, Beachbody is coaching you. Tell people what you are doing to get in shape and then send them to the website Beachbody gives you (looks like this).  I made this video where I show things you cannot see until you become a coach including my weekly earnings to prove this is real. The coach program is for everybody. Sign up for the 25% discounts, just for the business, or both. I well tell you that the people who really commit to a workout and use the nutritional products typically do better with the business. The reason is because they become a walking billboard and people come up to them and ask what they are doing to get in shape. I cannot tell you how many times people have approached me at the grocery store when they see me wearing my P90X t-shirt or hat and ask me about it. I hand them a business card with my before and after photos on the back and talk about the Coaching program or workouts. Its really that easy. People know the P90X and Insanity brand because of the infomercials or somebody they know is doing it and getting great results. That's probably why you're reading this right now.

Being a coach is a commitment to yourself to get into shape with Beachbody workouts. The reason why people fail when going to the gyms is they don't have the knowledge to make their own programs and continue to change them. Beachbody handles all of that for you now. Let's say you don't even earn $1 as a coach but you got into great shape. Would it still be worth it? I think so. The worse thing that can happen is you save some money on the products you buy. I'd say almost 90% of the people who sign up do it for the discounts alone. 

I'm sure you want to know how you get paid as a coach. I can disect the compensation plan and confuse the heck out of you or break it down to its simpliest form. You earn a 25% commission when people buy from you and earn bonuses from what the coaches you sponsor buy or sell. Its really that simple.

Words Of Wisdom

While I am more than willing to help and support you building your business, this really comes back to you and your effort. It took me 9 months of doing this part time before I took the leap to full time status. You should know I was unemployed at the time and had nothing else to do so I really worked this. If you have a full time job then you should set your time frame a little longer. I advise setting a 3 year goal with mini goals along the way. If you can get one new customer and coach a month then you would cover your business expenses in the first month. At the end of the first year you would have a residual monthly income of at least $400. Would that help you out?  

How Much Does It Cost?

• $39.95 which can be waived if you buy a workout program and Shakeology at sign up. Highly Recommended.
• $14.95 every 5 weeks after sign up. This covers customer service, shipping, inventory, i.e boring stuff.

Any Additional Costs?

Its important to maintain an active status as a Coach. This can easily be done by selling or buying roughly $50 a month on products.  Think about that for a second. You could consume your business expenses on yourself and grow a nice side or full time business from it.  Beachbody has many products to choose from and you can go on their home direct plan where they mail you a product of your choice every 5 weeks. Many items come with free shipping when you choose home direct. I have Shakeology, P90X Recovery Drink, Whey Protein, P90X Multivitamin, and their Wildberry Protein Bars sent every month. I recommend you get on home direct. If its coming in the mail you will use them and do the workouts. More importanly is those products will enhance your workout results.

The P90X Workout And Team Beachbody

The people at Beachbody have been putting out a ton of workout DVDs for quite some time now. The one that I use most is P90X. I figured for any of you P90X'ers out there that would be interested in other workouts from Beachbody that you can look at them here. The original P90X workout was called "Power 90." It is very similar to P90X but not as extreme. Some other titles are "Turbo Jam," "Power Half Hour," "Slim in 6," and "Hip Hop Abs." All of these are great workout DVDs and might be a more economical choice than the P90X dvd.

Beachbody is always coming out with new workouts. Its hard to keep up with all of them because there are different workouts for everybody and what I like to do might not be the right workout for you. You will be able to find something that works for you regardless of what your current health level is. What makes Beachbody stick out amongst all other health companies is that they want to see you get healthy. When you buy a DVD from them and sign up for FREE to be apart of their forum your name will be put into drawings for $1,000 and prizes including iPods.
