This years trip was to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. We stopped in there last year for a couple of hours on the Success Club Cruise but didn’t get to see that much else. Andrea and I decided to get there a couple of days early before all the workouts and business building workshops kicked in.

Days 1 – 3 Of Success Club Trip

We stayed at The Reef for the first couple days and am kind of glad we did as it had a kitchenette. I received sticker shock when we ate at the buffet and spent $60 a person that first night. Decided it would be in our best interest to go grocery shopping to have at least breakfast and lunch food around for the week. If you plan on going grocery shopping in the Bahamas make sure you keep the stamps the store gives you and use those as money when negotiating with the taxi cab driver on the way back. We later realized the stamps were as good as cash to the locals.

Andrea and I spent most of the first two days hanging out on the beach, going on the water slides, having the not so lazy river flip us twice and enjoy the resort. We spent one afternoon at the Dolphin Experience feeding them, letting them push us, and getting pictures of us kissing them. The staff there messed with us the entire time which brought out a laugh here and there. Was kind of bummed when they said I couldn’t bring my GoPro camera in and instead had to pay $70 for 5 pictures. Nothing is cheap at The Atlantis.

The Atlantis is where the rich high school kids go on Spring Break. Saw kids dropping more money at the bars there on one night then I did my entire week on my high school spring break. One guy bumped into me at the bar and asked me how my spring break was going. After informing him I was not on spring break he asked how big the high school I went to was. Him and his girlfriend were surprised when we told him we were in our early 30s. I guess we are aging well. Before dinner that night we shared a shuttle ride with Adrian Peterson and saw Donovan McNabb. One of their teammates from the Minnesota Vikings was getting married there.

Days 4 – 8 Of Success Club Trip

Our first day of Beachbody hosted events was a trip out to Sandy Toes Island with the rest of the 2011 Elite Coaches. Its a private island with a very rustic feel to it. Reminded me of a Corona commercial. Had a great time with the rest of the Elite coaches. Have made some great friendships with them over the past couple of years and its good to catch up. Did some snorkeling, enjoyed the view, and had a couple of adult beverages. Even though we were only there for 5 hours it was one of my favorite parts of the trip. Later that night there was the welcome dinner for everybody who qualified for the trip.

The next couple of days we just hung around the Atlantis. There is so much to do there if you can find ways to get around the cost or just deal with it. Beachbody moved us over to The Cove. There is a private adult pool called The Cain just for people who are staying there. It looked like a postcard with lounge chairs and beds near the bluest pool water I’ve seen. Bars on both sides with a DJ cranking out music and a place to gamble within arms reach of the pool. I didn’t do so well the first two nights at the casino but thought it would be cool to play outside. Felt a little intimidated playing craps with the guy next to me as he was betting over $500 each roll while I was slinging $25 around. Made all my money back plus some while everybody else was wilding out on the little island beds in the middle of the pool.

P90X2 workout with Tony Horton and attended the meeting with Carl and Isabelle Daikeler talking about the new Ultimate Reset product coming out. I’m on day 3 as I write this. Was interesting to hear them talk about as to why people need to do this 21 day cleanse and also what it can do for our business. Was really pumped to see coaches from my team, Mark & Jessica Klanac along with Jonathan Register and Jennifer Register, qualify for the trip. Had a blast hanging out with them. Beachbody put on a firework show the last night which was quite impressive. It was better than the one my city does for 4th of July. Nice touch to end a great week.

Every time I get back from one of these events I feel a little more grateful to Beachbody for opening up the Beachbody Coach business to every day folks like myself when they didn’t have to. I think over 400 people qualified which meant 800 people were there. Its been something to watch the Team Beachbody organization grow with business and physical success stories. I could probably go on and on about the week but I’d rather let the pictures do the talking. Thanks Beachbody.

<a

It was my first cruise and Andrea’s 3rd. She kept telling me I was spoiled with it because of how awesome it was and that I’ll never enjoy any other ship. It was nice walking into our cabin and reading a note from Beachbody saying they were crediting our end bill with $300.

All in all it was a great trip. Fun mixed in with a little bit of business. Catching up with old <a

Only made one 7:30 am workout. Sorry Chalene and Shaun T. I planned my recovery week for the cruise as I knew 7:30 was not going to happen. Here is a recap.

March 12th – Took the early flight from Detroit to Fort Lauderdale. Boarded around 2:00. There was a meet and greet with all of the coaches and Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler welcomed us to the ship. Did some (more than some) partying that night at one of the make shift bars they have on the front of the ship. Made this video showing off the Oasis of the Seas.

March 13th – Nassau – Bahamas – Skipped the morning workout with Chalene Johnson (sorry Chalene) because we only had 5 hours on the island to play around. Andrea and I bought the day pass at the Atlantis, went through the aquarium, and played around on the beach and water slides. Forgot how much fun they were as I caught myself running with the kids up the steps to get in line. Are 30 year olds allowed to do that? On our way out we stopped into the casino so I could throw some dice. Of course I won on my first throw, doubled up, and lost it all. Went to dinner that night and made two new friends, Ali and her cousin AJ. It was the beginning of a great friendship. Partied again.

March 14th – Day at Sea – Went for a 3 mile run on the track, did some push ups, and sit ups. Hung out by the pools and met more people during the day. Chalene Johnson had a great social media seminar during the day that I attended and took lots of notes from. Went to the diving show they had at night followed with a little bit of wilding out.

March 15th – St. Thomas – Walked around in downtown St. Thomas for a while and then took a taxi ride to Magens Bay on the other side of the island. Did some swimming with other Beachbody peeps and just enjoyed doing nothing. Saw a couple pelicans almost hit people while diving for food, had a couple drinks, and laughed when our taxi van driver almost hit every car on a hill he decided to drive down at 45 mph. Dinner and then no wilding out as I was exhausted.

March 16th – St. Martin – I actually woke up and did the morning Insanity workout with Shaun T. Its so much different when your trying to keep up with him. Of course he told us to slow down as our form was garbage. I think he knows what he’s talking about. Felt great after the workout. Washed, changed, deboarded the ship, got on a taxi van and headed to Sunset Beach. Probably was my favorite part of the trip. If you’ve never been to Sunset Beach (aka Maho Beach) then you need to get there. Its the beach right next to the airport where you get to watch 747s come in right over your head and then takeoff blowing you into the ocean. Best part is that the Sunset Beach Bar is right there so you can get drinks and laugh your ass off for 4 hours. Shaun T was there hanging out with some of his friends and we all had a great time together. Went back to the boat and got on the Flowrider for the first time. Thought it was going to be like snowboarding but I was wrong. Tried to move around on it and kept wiping out. Dinnered it up and went to a show afterwards. Here is a video I made of the day.

March 17th – Day at Sea – Celebrated St. Patty’s day doing what is common on that day. I did go for a run on the track. Still think its crazy how 2.4 laps on that boat is a mile. Went out to dinner with my coach Blake Warrington and his wife Angie along with Steph Perez, Taryn Perry, and their husbands. Ended the night with wilding out.

March 18th – Day at Sea – Not that much happening on the last day. Saw a whale jump out of the water. Had a great last dinner with Ali and AJ. Did some more wilding out at night and met some more friends.

March 19th – Flight back to good old Detroit.

In Summary – Had another great <a

I really like how they are doing the Success Club trips now so more people can get to these events and see what this is really all about. Have to keep the momentum going to add onto <a

I really like the isms my old job as a mortgage banker had and one of them was “Money and numbers don’t lead…they follow.” Basically, if you put in the effort needed to hit those goals the money will follow. And it did in my case. My 1099 for 2010 was 3x as much as it was in 2009. I can’t think of jobs where you can make that kind of jump in your 2nd to 3rd year. It was not easy though. I spent many days working 10 – 12 hours and a couple hours on the weekend. Of course I was putting in my time doing the Beachbody Coach and has qualified one way or another in the Success Club competition. I had qualified to go to last years Game Plan Event in California and this was somewhat similar. What was cool to see was the amount of people had grown from 100 last year to over 300 year this. Just goes to show how much the business is taking off.

I had qualified to go to the event and at first did not plan on going because my Alma Mater’s (Central Michigan University) Homecoming was on the same weekend. I had not missed a Homecoming since graduating in 2003. Its just so much fun and a time to see some of my old friends. But when I heard a week before the event that Tony Horton was going to be there leading a workout and they were going to be doing casting calls for the next P90X (P90X:MC2) and for a remake of Power 90 I knew I had to go. It would be awesome to be in one of those workouts let alone getting to haunt my friends and family in late night infomercials. With Beachbody paying for the hotel and most of the flight I knew I had to break tradition and go as it might be my one and only chance to be apart of something that is a major part of my life now.

The meeting was taking place at the Hilton Anatole which must be the largest hotel I’ve ever been in. Took 3 minutes to walk from one tower to the other. After checking in I went down and hung out at the pool enjoying the 85 degree weather before getting ready for the dinner at night.

Just like with all Beachbody outings, the dinner was superb. The food was great and so was the setting. During dinner, most of the Beachbody Executive staff came on stage and told us about new happenings with their products and people they hired. Some of the new products include:

P90X being available in Espanol

Less sugar, natural flavors, no fructose, and natural sweeteners in the P90X Recovery Drink

9 grams less sugar in the P90X Protein Bars – The old ones were good but these are even better. Had a chance to sample them.

Dr. Bill Wheeler explained the benefits of the improvements to the nutrition products. He is Beachbody’s Chief Science Officer and knows what he’s talking about. Guy’s been employed by Olympic and professional teams along with working at the White House. He’s wicked smart. The next guy who went up on stage was Dr. Marcus Elliott from the P3 Training Facility. He was recently hired by Beachbody to help improve upon their products. While telling his story I thought it was interesting to hear that many of his clients are professional athletes and he trains them on how to get the most out of their bodies. His clients kept telling him that the best workout program they have ever done was P90X. Barry Zito defended P90X to the very end and said that the strength coaches who work for the San Francisco Giants did nothing close to what P90X did for him. It was that story which made Dr. Elliott inquire into Beachbody. This guy is also smart as hell. Went to Harvard and basically created his own medical field called Biomechanics.

Dark and early the next morning (7 am) was the workout with Tony Horton. The sun had not even come up yet and we were about to do a sample of the P90X:MC2 workout which should be out next year some time. This was also going to be the casting call for everybody who was auditioning. Beachbody was looking for people who could keep up with Tony and I feel like I did well. A couple of the ab moves did get me but that’s to be expected. The hard is what makes P90X good. Its always that much more fun when working out with Tony. He seems to bring more effort out of a crowd of people when he’s standing up on stage. When the workout was over we were treated to a breakfast with some Shakeology.

Meetings were scheduled for the rest of the day. Beachbody brings in speakers to all of their meetings to help us improve upon our business skills. The guest speaker for today was Terry Ward of the CommSkills Group. He had a lot of great things to say about how to present ideas to people. I learned that I say “um” and “you know” a bit to much and that I need to slow down when talking to people. The biggest news of the day came in the afternoon when Beachbody informed us that they were removing the one time $39 sign up fee to be a Beachbody Coach until Dec. 31st. This is big news for people who are already coaches or thinking about it. For many people, the 25% discount that Coaches get on the products is enough to join (its why I did at first) and with them removing it people can save even more. There is no reason to not sign up now.

When the meetings were over Beachbody Corporate took on the Coaches in a basketball game. To make it a little more fun, Beachbody brought in a Harlem Globetrotter to do some coaching. He put on a dribbling exhibition which was cool. The “P90X Man” himself, Tony Horton played alongside CEO Carl Daikeler. Tony had a “Doc Horton” jersey which was fitting since that’s what Jim Rome calls him. The Coaches ended up winning and I think it would of been by a landslide if it was not for Loren from corporate who scored 70% of their points. I met him on the Top Coach Hawaii Trip and he must have the coolest job at Beachbody as he travels with the coaches and records what we do amongst other things. After the game we went to dinner with some of the other coaches. I had a chance to meet some new ones and hear their stories and meet up with ones I’ve met before.

Sunday morning started off with a workout led by Donna Richardson Joyner of Body Gospel. The workout was much different than any Beachbody workout I’ve done before as it included a congo line. Her energy is amazing. She made me smile the entire time. Breakfast and Shakeology followed the workout. There was only a half a day of meetings and most of it included new promotions Beachbody was offering and a presentation from MJ Durkin. He’s a sales and Network Marketing guru. Most of the stuff he said I had heard before when I worked as a mortgage banker but its refreshing to hear some new ways to explain what you’re trying to talk about. Craig Holiday gave a brief presentation which was very informative.

All in all I was glad that I decided to come (especially when I found out my Chippewas lost on the last play of the game). I still think its crazy how much my life has changed in the past 2 years since I became a Beachbody Coach. The products have changed my health and fitness and the business just follows. I was wearing my P90X hat on my flight from Detroit to Dallas and both flight attendants asked me about P90X because they knew somebody who was doing it. I gave them my business card and followed up with them when I got home. It seems that this is happening to a lot of other people by the looks of it. I really feel like this business is going to keep on doubling over the next couple of years especially knowing the new products they have in the works and that’s just awesome. Here are some pictures from the weekend.
<p

No workouts today. Only a couple hours of speeches and business building techniques. It all got started with a speech from Tony Horton. His speech was going over his “11 Laws.”

Variety – Be creative, curious, and committed. Change up your workouts and activities by doing cardio, resistance, weight training, yoga, core, and sports. (Sounds a lot like P90X huh)

Consistency – The more you do the better you get.

Intensity – The training begins when you can’t do anymore.

Purpose – Tony’s is better health, improved fitness, quality of life, right plan for the future.

Reality – Truth will set you free.

Sport – Go outside and play.

The Plan – Create accountability. Plan 30 days in advance. “Make a appointment for a better life.”

Stress & Sleep – Choose wisdom and forgiveness over anger and blame. Write your issues down before you go to bed so you can tackle it tomorrow.

Love it or leave it – Fitness or in life.

Flexibility – Fountain of youth.

Food & Supplementation – You are what you eat.

Tony mixes in health and fitness along with life in his 11 Laws. The ones I struggle with are 3, 7, and 11. I workout at least 4 days a week when I’m not doing a program along with the sports I play but getting intense has never been apart of my identity. I don’t plan that much anymore and what I do plan I tend to forget about it. I eat really good but I tend to over eat.

The next speaker was Craig Holiday. He was hired as a consultant for the Coach Network. The guy has built multiple million dollar mlm businesses. His speech was very informing. The one little nugget I took from it was when he said “Become Great. Don’t Fail.” It got me thinking about the Be Perfect halftime speech from Friday Night Lights.

The last speaker for the Coach Summit was the CEO of Success Magazine, Darren Hardy. Beachbody invited him to speak at the Game Plan Event a couple months ago but I missed out on it as I had to leave early. It became evident very early into his speech that he knows what it takes to be successful. He was a real estate agent in his early twenties and started going door to door asking people if they were selling their home or if they knew of somebody trying to sell. He developed a system where he knew it would take 10 no’s before he got a yes. So every time he got a no he smiled and told them thanks as he was 9 no’s away from meeting his next client. He made his first million and broke company records by the age of 23. I took 4 pages of notes. What I like abut his speech was that he broke down being successful to its roots. Some of what he said was:

90% of millionaires start at the bottom or broke

The 3 Core Strategies are 1. Difference (The X Factor) 2. What it is not – The company, products, comp plan. 3. YOU are the variable.

You need to put 100% effort in expecting 0% in return.

“Every outcome in your life is your fault. What you did. What you didn’t do. How you responded to what you did.

“What you sell is YOU.”

Best network marketer of all time said “You, follow me.” – Jesus

Fortune favors the bold – Learn to love failure. Celebrate failure.

“The key to success is massive failure.” – Tom Watson – Pres. IBM

He told a story about people winning the lotto and how we always hear about them being broke in a year or two after winning millions of dollars. He said its because people are always trying to seek their “set point.” Basically, a gas station attendant making $8 an hour is comfortable at that point. The person is not comfortable having millions of dollars. So that person does whatever they can to get rid of the millions of dollars to get back to the $8 an hour lifestyle. In a weird way it made sense to me. He said that people need to build up their set points. It can’t happen over night.

Darren ended his speech with some impressive slides of people he has interviewed over the years including Richard Branson. I really enjoyed it because while he was speaking I started to reflect on the success I’ve had with the Beachbody Coach business. I pictured myself going through my failures and what I did to respond to it.

The Summit ended with CEO Carl Daikeler giving a speech about the future of the Coach network, some of the upcoming products including P90 neXt. Yup, an updated P90X series is in the works. If I remember correctly I think there was mention of another Insanity coming out too.

I had a great time at Summit. I met a lot of people, had fun with some people I met at other trips, got recognized on stage, worked out with a couple hundred people, and learned why people live in LA. I didn’t see a cloud in the sky for the entire 3 days I was there. Beachbody has created something very special. I’m excited to see how the Coach network grows before the 2011 Coach Summit. Here are some photos from the day and a entire recap video.
<p

I woke up at 5 am after getting 4 hours of sleep because of the time change. I was “feeling it” a little from the Diamond Coach party yesterday but knew the best remedy for that would be an hour long Insanity workout with Shaun T at 7am.

The room they had us set up in was a bit small and was hot. I knew sweat was going to be flying around every where once we got started. I told my buddy Gianni to be ready for this one as he’s never done Insanity before. Upon getting started I could tell that he was like “really?” He told me he almost passed out during the warm up. Insanity is no joke.

The workout ended up being a lot of fun as Shaun T got us working out in groups trying to challenge each other to do as many “high knees” as we could for a minute each along with a drill where one person stays in a “plank push up” for a minute while the other person jumps laterally over that person. Nobody was stepped on so that’s cool. Anything that I was feeling from the night before had been sweated out for sure. Look at how dark my shirt is from the sweat. Here are some photos from the workout session.
<p

There was a 3 hour meeting where CEO Carl Daikeler discussed how the amount of coaches has almost doubled since last years summit. A couple highlights of the meeting was when they unveiled the “Diamond Pack.” Its a package that coaches can buy that has a lot of Beachbody’s top selling products like P90X, Insanity, Power 90, and Turbo Jam along with business building materials and supplements. I bought one because they give a deep discount on it. The other highlight was when they were about to reveal the Vanilla Shakeology. However, they went on to inform us that they found out a secret amongst the food manufacturing companies where they don’t use all natural products to give it that vanilla taste. When Beachbody found out, they decided to axe that flavor until it could be produced with all natural products. Its good to know that Beachbody decided to take the honorable route and not allow a product to be sold just to make a buck. President Jon Congdon introduced the corporate team. Chalene Johnson gave us a run down on how social media works. Michael Niemend told us how much money we could theoretically make. Brett Blake told us how much Beachbody is spending on advertising and how they plan to grow Team Beachbody. Somebody even proposed. Here are some photos from it.

Gianni has done it and loves it. His wife has been doing RevAbs and has lost 3 dress sizes since starting the program. This has caused Gianni to have a man crush on Brett. He told Brett to “Rev it Up” and they had a moment. I got a photo with him and then headed to the business break out sessions planned for the next 3 hours. I was even asked to share a couple of my tips on how I keep in contact with my customers and getting the word out about Shakeology. Its been awhile since I had to speak in front of a crowd so it made me a little nervous but I pulled through. There was a lot of great info shared during each of the three sessions. Most of it was new to me so I really enjoyed it. When the breakout sessions were over it was time to get ready for the party that night. We headed back up stairs, relaxed a little and headed back down.

The party was a dress to impress occasion and it was the first time I had worn a suit to a job/business related event in over two years. Some of the highlights included Andrea and I both going up on stage to accept our Top Coach awards and me getting recognized for making it to 2 Star Diamond Coach. They gave us a Tommy Bahamaish shirt that said Top Coach on it. They announced that the winners for Success Club will be going on a cruise in the Caribbean. You can view it at the Coach Destinations site. I’m in the video on the site describing the Top Coach trip to Hawaii from this year. I have my eyes on the trip they announced for the Top 10 Success Club point earners who make it to Beachbody Elite status. Its a 10 day biking trip through France. I’ve got my sites set on being there and getting my Tour De France on. Pablo Bressan was recognized for winning Top Coach of 2009 and received a $10k bonus check. Congrats Pablo.

The best part of the night happened when Beachbody gave away $25k each to Jeremy Yost and Cammie Lusk for having the best transformations. Jeremy lost over 173 pounds doing P90X. He said he had to modify almost every move during his first couple rounds of P90X because he physically could not do it. Jeremy just stuck with it and kept “Bringing It.” If you think about it, he lost a full grown man. Cammie’s story was very inspirational too. She has MS and is confined to a wheel chair. Her and her husband worked together to modify P90X so she could do as many of the moves as she could. Cammie ended up losing a lot of weight but had bigger gains in her overall health. There were lots of tears in the room as we all got to see her transformation video.

When Debbie Siebers was done handing out bonus checks (this does not include their week to week earnings) to Yolanda Harris and Christine Dwyer for over $100k (for reaching 15 Star Diamond Coach (nice work ladies)) and Carl was done talking, the party started. Everybody hit the dance floor. I remember seeing people do some “Airborne Heismans” from the P90X Plyometrics workout. Tony Horton hit the floor with his girlfriend and battle danced a couple guys. The women (including my girlfriend Andrea) all wanted to dance with him and jumped in whenever they could. We partied until 2 am and called it a night. The festivities would not start until 10 am the following morning so we made the most of the night. Here are some photos and the Beachbody produced video from the night.
<p

We picked up our rental car and made the 18 mile trip to Santa Monica from LAX. Had my first experience driving in LA and must say that it was very depressing. It was noon and my average speed was 22 mph.

As soon as we arrived to the 3rd floor of the building I was immediately impressed. The Beachbody corporate office is very ergo friendly. Everything looks clean and neat. It has a very wide open feel as it looks like it used to be a warehouse because of the open ceiling layout.

We showed up a little late and had to jump in with a tour already in progress. They showed us where they come up with a lot of the ideas for upcoming workout programs and products. I kept looking at all of the cool computers they had. It seemed like every employee has a iMac. Must of been the creative department that we kept walking around. It did not surprise me to see a gym inside the place and some of their employees doing P90X together. They even had a locker room with showers making it easy to get a quick workout in during lunch or after work. Instead of me rambling on about how cool the place is I’ll let you look at the pictures instead.

[[Show as slideshow]]

When the tour was over we headed to the hotel where the Coach Summit was going on. We had to check in and upon doing so we received a goodie bag full of cool stuff including a P90X hat that says Diamond Coach on it. They had a room full of shirts, workout gear, and basically everything that Beachbody sells in there for purchase. Most of it was picked through by the time we got there. I did manage to find a P90X workout shirt and bought that.

After making our purchases we headed up to our room to get changed up for the group workout. It was going to be a hour of working out with Debbie Siebers (Slim in 6), Brett Hobel (RevAbs), Leandro Carvalho (Brazilian Butt Lift), Chalene Johnson, Shaun T, and Tony Horton. Upon arriving to the room where it was going to be held it was evident that it was going to be packed. There must of been 600 people in this room trying to workout. Each trainer did about 10 minutes of workouts with a little bit of motivational speaking. Doing Insanity was tricky because of how crowded it was. It was fun, even with all of the sweat being thrown around the place. Here are some photos from it.

From there we had a couple hours of down time until the Diamond Coach “Shine Party” that night at the “X Bar” (really, that’s what its called) inside the hotel. Only Diamond Coaches were invited to it. With Andrea and I both being Diamond Coaches we were able to bring my friend Gianni as our guest. I was really excited to see him come out to LA with us so he can see what I’ve had a taste of with the Top Coach trip in Hawaii. Beachbody had a red (blue) carpet entrance to it where they were interviewing and taking photos of the people walking in. It was fun. The night included saying hi to Tony Horton, Carl Daikeler, Jon Congdon, catching up with coaches we met on the trip, and meeting new ones. I even met fitness icon Debbie Siebers. She’s been in the fitness business for over 20 years creating popular workout programs like Slim in 6. We partied for as long as we could until the time change started to take over on our bodies. Day 2 of the Coach Summit was going to be action packed including a 7 am Insanity workout with Shaun T. Here are some photos of the night.

yesterday’s Plyo legs workout. Should have listened to him and not pushed it so hard. Andrea was so sore that she did not want to go to the workout. I told her there were probably going to be consequences for skipping it. I headed down for the workout while she stayed in bed. Beachbody moved the workout inside and Tony was going to be leading us in his Cardio Interval workout from his 1 on 1 series. Tony made the end of the workout a little bit harder with one of his ab workouts. This one was new to me so I struggled through it. Everybody was drenched in sweat at the end. Here is a video that fellow coach Jeff Armbruster took of us working out. I’m to the left of the guy wearing the grey shirt. (Did you notice how Tony is up on his toes in this picture to make it look like he’s as tall as me.)

After the workout was over I went up to Tony and asked to have my photo taken with him. After the photo was over he asked me where Andrea was. I told him that she was not able to make it to the workout as she was too sore from yesterday’s workout knowing that this was not what he wanted to hear. He responds with “She needs to be here working out so she can work through the lactic acid that’s been built up.” He continued with more fancy science terms before I stopped him and told him he was talking to the wrong person and that Andrea would be at breakfast in 10 minutes.

I headed over to the restaurant and met up with Andrea. I sat down and started eating while she went up to the omelet line. While she was waiting in line Tony made a bee-line right to her. “Why were you not at the workout this morning,” says Tony. “I’m sore,” Andrea replies. “Are you injured? No. Give me your plate, then drop down and give me 10 push ups.” Everybody standing in line turns and gave that your in trouble look to her. Tony did not make her do push ups but told her the science behind why its important to workout even where your sore. I think Tony was instilling the “Do your best and forget the rest” mindset that he teaches with P90X.

When breakfast was done we headed back up to our rooms and started getting ready for the daily. Andrea decided to do a spa day (not awesome) and I went for surfing lessons (awesome). Our group was taken over to the beach where we met our three instructors. They gave us about 15 minutes of instructions on the beach and then we headed out to the ocean. The waves were anywhere from 2 – 5 feet tall. I was able to get up on the board on my second try. Besides the whole push feeling from the waves it was not that much different than snowboarding. We were out there for about 4 hours and I came in one time to take a couple pictures. It took me about an hour to catch a wave that took me all the way to the beach. My shoulders and lower back were getting sore near the end of it but I kept on pushing as I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to surf again. Carl Daikeler paddled on over from his beach house (must be nice) and surfed with us for a couple hours. He does the stand up paddling which our instructors (who said they do the P90X workout also) say is not cool. One of the coolest things we saw was two whales jumping out of the water about 300 yards away from us.

[[Show as slideshow]]

It had already been an action packed day already but there was one more thing to do. Beachbody was putting on a luau that night to end the trip. It was a awesome evening and was another chance to meet other Coaches. They had hula and fire dancers performing in the tent. I along with Tony Horton got pulled up on stage to do a Hula Dance.

[[Show as slideshow]]

Beachbody Coach opportunity available. Otherwise I would not be able to have afford a trip to Hawaii like this. They told me thanks for putting in the effort with the biz and the workouts as I’m a good representation of the products. Its been awhile since I’ve received a compliment from a boss type figure. Being able to talk with them on a one on one basis was really cool as I had a chance to see how they think about things and what drives them. The biggest one is they truly care about getting people in shape and ending the trend on obesity in the country.

The luau was a great way to end the week. It was my first real take on how the “other half” lives. What I mean by that is people who do something they really enjoy and to have the freedom to do what they want and when they want. Almost all of the other Coaches I met had a similar story to mine. They used P90X or another workout to get into shape and continued to use the Beachbody products. The biz part just came along with it. The whole trip re-assured me that what I am doing is making a difference not only in my own life but also with the people I share my story with. Thanks Beachbody.

Post from: <a

Tony went a little easy on all of us yesterday doing some Yoga so we knew we were in for a challenge when he said one of his celebrity clients (Usher) only made it about two thirds of the way through before falling on his face. The workout was going to be Plyo Legs which is apart of the Tony Horton 1 on 1 series. I’ve never done this particular workout, just normal P90X Plyometrics. Fellow Coach Jeff Armbruster took a video of everybody working out. I’m wearing the maroon shirt and shorts representing my Alma mater Central Michigan. Andrea is right next to me.

Tony warned us before the workout that many of the moves involved with this are very intense and if we pushed ourselves too hard our butts and hamstrings were going to be sore for the next 4 days. Of course none of us listened to him when he said “I’m going to do 50 reps, you should be stopping at 25.” I along with a lot of other people pushed ourselves to keep up with Tony. Hey Tony, WE ALL DO YOUR WORKOUTS. We are very prepared for the craziness that’s about to happen. Of course it ended up being very hard. I was able to do as many reps as him on almost all of the moves. I’ll probably feel it tomorrow as Tony is right about that stuff all the time.

After our morning workout we headed over to breakfast and listened to a very informative speech put on by Isabelle Daikeler (Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler’s wife). She was the one who developed Shakeology and talked about it extensively. I guess she knows what she’s talking about as she has numerous degrees in nutrition and is in the top 1% of some fancy health / fitness / nutrition thing that I forgot to write down. Turns out that she has many celebrity clients like Brad Pitt who she put together meal plans for to help them get into shape for their movies. I’ll write more about this in a future post.

With our workout and meeting of the minds out of the way it was time to do our first activity of the trip. We decided to go ziplining at the Princeville Ranch. None of us had done it before and were excited to do it. What made the day a lot of fun was sharing it with some of the other Top Coaches and their guests. I got to know Jason “Puckhead” Diebold, Barbie Decker, and a couple of the Beachbody employees who came with us. It was a very fun day that ended with a 1200 foot long zipline named “King Kong” which you could race somebody down. I beat Andrea. Here is a video of the ziplining trip.
<p
