Should You Take Off A Couple Days When Doing P90X?

By Brad Gibala On June 11, 2008 Under P90X

The answer to this question is it really depends on yourself. Since its summer time again I have been ready to get back outside and start running. Im really not a fan of using a treadmill. I use to enjoy watching people who would get on treadmills and crank it up to 7 mph but keep it on a 0 degree incline. This really does nothing for you. Sure you are running but you are getting the same result as running outside at 4mph. The treadmill pulls your foot back and you get a recoil effect.

Due to the weather changing I like to throw in three days a week of long distance running(5 miles) or more.  This will help me get my cardio back and endurance for the sports I play. This will also help tighten up my body and all of the muscle I have gained while doing P90X. I would say that I have put on about 10 pounds of muscle since I have started. I am skinny to begin with so this is a lot for me.

So I decided to just grab a P90X DVD and just do it. This is my new way of doing P90X now because I am into my sixth month. I know my body feels like it knows whats coming because I followed the routine to a T. The other day I did the P90X Chest And Back routine after 3 days of doing nothing P90X related.  I was happy to see that  I was able to do more wide front pull-ups and military push ups then I could before. I guess the rest really helped me out. My muscles were ready to go and I felt enegized the whole time.

Unfortunately the next two days my chest and back muscles were the sorest they have been in awhile. I don't know if I pushed to hard or did not stretch right. I did feel stronger but man did my muscles hurt. I don't think I should take that much time off between doing P90X if Im going to go through that much pain.
