Sticking with my current change in workout routines is starting to pay off. On Monday I did 5 miles on the bike, 3 miles running, and a .5 mile swimming. On Tuesday I did the same exact thing. My energy level went right through the roof. Its good to switch things up every once in awhile and I kind of need a break from P90X. I am not giving up on P90X but just adding onto my p90X results.
Feeling exhausted from Monday and Tuesday I took Wednesday off and did not do any kind of exercise. Just a full day of resting. Eager to get back at it today I made a small change in what I was trying to achieve. My workout goal today was to do 10 miles on the stationary bike, then do a combination of 30 pull ups and chin ups, and finishing with a 3/4 mile swim.
It took me 30 minutes to do 10 miles. Heading over to the pull up bar I was able to do the 30 pull ups. On to the pool. As soon as I started swimming, my arms started burning from all of the pull ups I did right before getting into the pool. Surprisingly I was able to crank out the first 15 laps in a good time and did not feel too exhausted. Took a 3 minute break and finished off the next 15 laps with a sprint for the last 2. I even beat some guy who kept trying to race me in the pool. I really feel like he was trying to race me. He would swim 2 laps then take a break while I kept going back and forth. Then right when I touched the wall and turned around he would push off the wall and go as hard as he could to the wall. Of course he beat me most of the time. I was pacing myself. While he was hanging out, I was doing 5 laps. It just so happened that he waited for me to finish my last lap and I kicked it up a notch and beat him by a full length. Yup, I’m a bad ass.
I really like this new routine and am going to stick with it. My body feels like it has woke up and is ready for a new challenge. I even feel like I have lost a pound or two while maintaining my strength. let’s see how it goes.
