I laughed my ass off listening to Jim Rome describe P90X Plyometrics. Describing how much he hates Tuesday's now because of Plyometrics is hilarious. Referring to Tony as Doc Horton was awesome.

Some of my favorite quotes Jim said describing P90X are:

"Never had a problem with Tuesdays before until now. Its because its Plyo Tuesdays."

"You know when you know Plyo X is going to beat your ASS? Its in Doctor Horton's intro."

"I knew it was going to be an issue when the Doc told me to get a bucket."

Jim Rome also did a little blip about Yoga X. Some of his quotes are:

"Thursday is P90X Yoga X day. Also known as about 8 hours of downward dog."

"You know what I'm talking about..that crane pose..Doc Hort says bag it, you frankly have to rock back and forth on your head."

Only the Beginning...

Name: Stephen Saunders (Coach name: sksaunders)

Program: Power 90

What made you decide to start Power 90? Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?

My primary motivation has always been simply to get in shape and have the kind of self-confidence I wanted to have. In trying to find the right approach to fitness that would work for me, I was really tired of investing time and money into things that seemed to work for some others - but were never quite right for me personally.

I tried the gym route before, for a couple of years in fact... and although I did gain strength and some bulk, it just plain wasn't working. I didn't really know how to exercise properly or eat properly; I was going at it all blindly. I've also tried other home fitness programs by companies other than BeachBody, and I did experience some success with them, but it was short lived.

The main thing I noticed about other-than-beachbody produced home fitness programs is that virtually all of them seemed to focus primarily on joint-jarring cardio floor work, with only a very light emphasis on strength training. I assumed, as many have, that this was the proper approach to fitness. I was wrong, and so were the companies marketing those dvds!

One of the most discouraging times for me was about four years ago when I threw myself hardcore into a home fitness program. I lost a significant amount of weight (that's the good part), but the program was total overkill on my joints. I severely overtrained and my body could not keep performing at that level. My feet, ankles, lower legs and knees began to feel brittle. I was in pain, I was exhausted, my body just felt wrecked. I became discouraged, stopped exercising, and I gained a lot of weight back.

Eventually, fate lead me to feel motivated to try yet again for the umpteenth time to get my body into shape. So I set out to find something that would be the *right* approach to fitness for *ME*. I began paying closer attention to the P90X infomercials I was seeing on TV, and I started researching that online. I was impressed with how BeachBody seemed to be putting their programs together, everything seemed so thought out and well-researched.

I did feel that P90X may would be a little much for me at first, and I read how that some others began first with the Power 90 program... so I made my decision then to try Power 90. I ordered the program, and it's one of the smartest decisions I've ever made.

What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?

My biggest obstacles in life have always been psychological... Can I really do it? Am I committed enough? Do I really deserve to be successful and happy? Depression and low self-esteem are major hurdles that I continuously work to overcome. So with that in mind, I knew that my single biggest obstacle would be the need to stay motivated and focused. I couldn't let negative thoughts stop me from reaching my goals; I'd previously fallen victim to that too many times.

I fortunately discovered that the BeachBody company places tremendous importance on the psychological aspects of getting into shape. BeachBody has done everything they can to be sure you have the support, the guidance, and the motivation you need to succeed. Everything from the Team BeachBody online forums, to having access to your personal Coach, to the workout dvds themselves, is centered around keeping you FOCUSED. And I needed that!

How has Power 90 changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?

In 90 days I lost a total of 33.4 lbs, 22 inches, and 12.4% body fat. My strength, flexibility, stamina, and my eating habits, all significantly improved versus when I started the program. And the most important benefit I discovered is that unlike so many other things I've tried, my motivation and my drive never decreased. From day one all the way through day ninety, I was driven to succeed! I never became bored or disheartened or burned out!

I could go on and on about all the ways that Power 90 has improved not only my fitness, but my LIFE. I don't just look better, I *FEEL* better. I am healthier physically and that is so awesome... but the greatest benefit to me is that I am healthier psychologically. The closer I come to my fitness goals, the more inner healing I feel. I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it is to have finally discovered something that works for me. I finally have confidence that I can succeed, not only just with my fitness but with my life.

You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?

Thanks to the 25% Coach discount, I save a ton of money on my purchases and this really helps me. The small Coach fee expense that coaches pay, quickly pays for itself after the second month of receiving Shakeology on home direct, (and due to the health benefits, Shakeology is definitely something I recommend that everyone seriously consider!)

I'll say also that just the fact of knowing I'm a Coach, helps me keep my focus to keep pushing play. When you're a representative of the company, people do expect you to be a product of the product... and for me, this is a huge motivator. Nothing is more important to me than keeping my focus, because I know I can succeed at anything as long as I never quit!

Last but most certainly not least, I love knowing that I am ready to help other people discover their right approach to fitness with BeachBody products. Power 90 helped me so much, and now I'm doing P90X. BeachBody is playing such a significant role in helping me improve my life; and I was beginning to think nothing could help me. I know BeachBody has the right products and opportunities to help others too, no matter what their goals are.

You know "Look at your man, now back to me, now back at your man, now BACK TO ME! ...I'm on a horse." Have you ever noticed how ripped that guy is? Turns out that he is a big fan of P90X. So much so that he gets to workout personally with Tony Horton. The actor's name is Isaiah Mustafa and he used to play in the NFL for a couple years before turning to acting. I heard he was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week and answered the question how he stays in such great shape. That whole diet plan Tony makes up is crazy. I would fail on almost all of the things Tony says to follow. I saw Tony eat the same thing for the entire week when we were on the Top Coach trip in Hawaii. Here is the clip.

Program: P90X Classic

What made you decide to start P90X? Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?

So there you are, in the North Pacific Ocean 80 miles offshore. You are alone. It’s sometime after two in the morning and the only lights you can see are the eerie phosphorescent streaks caused by the 70+ knot storm winds. Before your sailing vessel de-masted and rolled, you logged the swell out of the northwest at 22 feet. Now, as you flail in the trough, with your head bobbing in the black sea water, that same swell looks like a five story building ready crash down upon your little body and tumble you like an industrial washing machine. You are in 48 degree water, and the cold has penetrated your survival suit with a thoroughness reminiscent of a pack of angry dogs. You are shivering uncontrollably with hypothermia and your family is somewhere out in the ocean lost to you. Your only hope is the bright orange helicopter that has suddenly appeared from the gloom with a bright light. The ugly angel is your savior and may hold the rest of your family inside its tiny fuselage, if only it didn’t just bobble in the sky and veer radically away from you. Barely scooping away from the ocean’s clutches the helicopter disappears into the gloom as quickly as it arrived. Unbeknownst to you, the pilot of the helicopter had a heart attack at the tender age of 36. He had been working on blocking his arteries with fat for the last 14 years by eating poorly and skipping workouts.

Flying helicopters and saving lives is my job. I didn’t have heart attack, but it wouldn’t be outside the realm of possibilities had I continued down the path I was following. I don’t want to be one of those guys who constantly fights health problems so that I can do my job. I want to be able to do it efficiently and safely, but that isn’t the only reason I wanted to get in better shape. Honestly, my primary motivation came from my lovely wife.

One day my wife looked at me with elevator eyes and said, “You are getting fat.” I had seen the P90X infomercial several times and even know some people who had gone through the program, but I never thought that kind of workout was for me. Prior to P90X, I had always thought of working out as an endurance test and I figured if I could still run 5 miles, swim 2000 meters, and bench press more than my body weight, I must be okay…right? The truth is that I wasn’t okay. The extra weight I had put on was making me prone to injuries especially in my shoulders, lower extremities, and my back. Pain makes the desire to workout wane very quickly, and yet I persisted in the belief that I was okay--that it was normal to gain a few pounds when your metabolism slows in your late thirties, that I wasn’t fat, I was more slender and in better shape than most of America. The psychology of self-image is delicate, but denial can be broken by an objective point of view if you are open to listening. By the way, if your reference point is the majority of America, you might just be in denial.

After my wife’s comment, I saw the P90X infomercial again and decided it was finally time to change the way I workout and the way I eat. I didn’t think it was going to be easy, but I thought even the loss of a few pounds would be great. The day I ordered P90X, I started working out seriously again while I waited for the program to arrive. When the program arrived, I jumped right in to the first workout the following day. I didn’t bother with the fit test, perhaps because I was still relying on a self-image that believed I was in good enough shape. That first workout proved me wrong, but I pushed through with modified movements. It wasn’t until the third week that I could complete a workout without modifying the movements.

What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?

There are obstacles and there are choices in life. The past three months have probably been the most stressful times I have experienced in my current job. The thing about job stress is that it is usually created by artificial obligations, especially when talking about a desk job, which is what I am currently assigned to do. I bet the people I rescued and drug runners I have stopped never thought that the pilot of the aircraft above them was working his way towards serious health problems.

I am a busy person, but I made the commitment to follow a solid nutritional plan and workout consistently despite work and graduate school obligations. I tried not to sacrifice family obligations, but my wife may have a different viewpoint on that subject. Without the support of my wife and family I would never have been able to make a commitment to this program.

How has P90X changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?

In 90 days, I reduced my weight from 210 to 181. I am slimmer, stronger, and fit enough to face life’s challenges. Moreover, this program is sustainable with no more effort than it takes to eat poorly and avoid workouts. Best of all, my self-esteem is higher and I no longer feel self-conscious about taking my shirt off at the lake or the pool.

You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?

So far being a coach has been all about the discount (25%) and home delivery of the products. This program also helps keep me committed; although, so many people ask about the progress I have made that I see no reason not to capitalize on my efforts and would feel really guilty if I reverted to old habits.

Program:P90X

What made you decide to start P90X? Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?

I was in my mid 40's, 6 ft, over 200 pounds and did not feel good. I had gained a couple of pounds a year over the years and it was adding up. I did not feel comfortable without a shirt by the pool and just felt lethargic. My cholesteral was over 220 and a friend suggested I may have to start taking some cholesteral drugs. My blood pressure was high. I did not want to take any medication. I was noticing my pants had gone up to size 36 and were tight. There was no way I was going to buy a 38. My clothes did not fit well. I saw the infomercial and thought I could do it. I needed a change. I had a gym membership but found it hard to consistently get down there. I also did not know the exercises that my body needed. I saw some pictures of myself and did not like what I saw.

What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?

My biggest obstacle is just trying to schedule the time to workout in my busy daily routine. I have three boys age 4, 12 and 14. They keep me busy. I also work and travel quite a bit. I thought I did not have the time to workout or go to the gym on most days. I had a busy schedule at work and then soccer practice/football/basketball with the kids when I got home. We also had school activities and trying to spend a little time with my beautiful wife. I was over whelmed and stressed looking back at it. What I did not realize is that working out was essential to my body functioning well in my job and with my family. Now that I have made time in my daily routine to workout my life has become more manageable. I dont know how I functioned without it. Once I started to see some results and feel better I realized that you have to workout as you age.

How has P90X changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?

I have not reached all of my goals yet but I now weigh 175 and wear size 32 jeans. My body fat percentage is around 14. I play basketball weekly and have more energy that most of the guys on the court. I drive the ball further in golf. My golf score dropped about 5 strokes. I relax more when playing and do not tire on the back nine. I play soccer with my kids and some friends weekly. I also have energy for bike riding, hiking, rafting etc. I have become much more active. Healthwise my blood pressure dropped to115 over 62. My cholesteral is 180. My clothes fit better. I went from an extra large t- shirt to a medium t-shirt size. I feel like the workout clears my mind, makes me more productive at work, and reduces stress in my life. I dont know how I functioned without it. I would rather show up a few minutes late for work because I worked out than to go without doing it.

You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?

I like the discounts to buy nutritional products. I also like being a part of this community. It motivates me and helps me when I see what the other coaches and members are doing. I want to help people that are in the same situation that I was in. I see people everyday, everywhere I go that need help. I see people just like I was and some much worse. I was not truly 100% happy with myself and I know others are not because they tell me. Contact me and I will help you do all of the things I have done. No medication, an active lifestyle, playing all sports with my kids and friends, feeling alert, confident, can go to the pool or the beach and feel good, smile more, the list goes on and on. I am truly a happier person. Let me help you! Sign up for a free account below.

Monday (7/5/10) - Day Off

Tuesday (7/6/10) - P90X Legs & Back with softball at night.

Wednesday (7/7/10) - Insanity Core Cardio & Balance with double header softball games at night.

Thursday (7/8/10) - Double Header Softball Games

Friday (7/9/10) - Day Off

Saturday (7/10/10) - Day Off

Sunday (7/11/10) - Day Off

This week was brutal. I felt so exhausted going into this week that I barely had any energy. I made it half way through P90X Legs and Back before stopping. I decided it was time for a break since I had not had a true recovery week in a couple months. Softball was fun but the weather was still hot. It was at least 95 degrees on wednesday night. What was weird was that I felt very loose. Must be all of that humidity in the air. Even weirder was that my swing felt great and so did my arm. Maybe the couple days away from P90X and Insanity helped my body relax. I got on base all but 4 times in my 19 at bats in those 3 days.

I really need to start planning a recovery week into my monthly schedule when I'm mixing programs. I started feeling not as exhausted on sunday. Next week should be better.

It was an exhausting week as I tried to push myself with the workouts and playing softball at night. The weather has been very hot lately and we played in 90 + degree weather on all three nights. I must of sweated out a gallon of water each night. After riding bikes on saturday I decided that it was time to take a week off.

Program: P90X

What made you decide to start P90X? Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?

Honestly two things. My friend Brad Gibala and my 36 inch waist. I was sick of buying bigger clothes and never being happy the way I looked without a shirt on. It’s funny cause at the stores all you see is medium and small sizes available, never large! I was on my way to my 30th birthday and needed to look 20 again. P90X and RevAbs gave me my look back

What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?

Picking the same time everyday and working out for an hour/hour n half. Watching people eat pizza, pasta, and drink beer. I also have 2 children and the only time to work out was at 5:30am so it made for a long day.

How has P90X changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?

The program has made me realize that being healthy is in. Watching what I eat but not feeling guilty for eating bad once and a while. I lost 28 pounds, down to 15% body fat and in size 32 jeans instead of size 36.

You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?

Besides the steady income I make each month I love to help people I know get back to their normal self. The coaching thing allows me to stay healthy and motivated to never gain the weight back. I'm a walking billboard for phattyfit.com so I need to stay trim or who is going to take my recommendations.

Program: P90X, Weight Lifting

What made you decide to start P90X? Was it the infomercial, friend or co-workers results, bored with the gym, etc.?

I had been working out for about ten years. I mainly did weight lifting mixed in with a little bit of cardio and playing some sports. One of my friends, Brad Gibala, kept telling me I should check out this P90X workout. I had seen the infomercials and I was intrigued so I figured I would give it a shot, but I have to be honest I was skeptical at first. After the second day I was a believer and I feel in love with this program and became a coach. If P90X was not real I would have just stopped after a week or two and did my own routine. Tony Horton is the man and he is the worlds best trainer, no doubt.

What were your biggest obstacles (work, school, family)? How did you overcome those?
I really did not have any huge obstacles. I am really driven, especially when it comes to my health. I just told myself to stick to the program and not veer from it in anyway, this way I could see honestly how good or bad it was. Now that is not to say the program wasn't difficult for me. It was very hard, and I had already been in great shape so that is what I loved. This program pushed me to be better when I thought I was at my peak and it got me there. I would not let myself fail.

How has P90X changed your life? Weight loss, inches off waist, body fat %, sports performance, etc.?
My body fat percentage, was already around 8-9% and I was at a weight I was very happy with, but P90X got me even more ripped and I lost about 5 pounds. I now look more ripped then I ever have in my life. It also exposed me to Yoga. I thought yoga was weird and useless. Now I love it, I think it is a great part of any workout program and like Tony Horton says, "It is the fountain of Youth". Bottom line, the P90X expanded my horizons in the fitness world.

You signed up as Coach. Besides the business, what do you like most about it? Is it the discounts, committing to your health and fitness, coaching others, all of the above, etc?
I like helping others the most. That is what I enjoy about being a coach. I know a lot about fitness and have been working out for so long, this is a passion to me and I love to share my knowledge that I have gathered on my own. I also like the discounts, I not only use them for myself but for my family as well!
