Can Bodybuilders and Powerlifters Get Results With P90X?
Since the 2 years of writing to this blog I have had a number of guys contact me saying that P90X is weak and a bunch of other nonsense. It might because my P90X results don't show a guy who can bench press 200 pounds or squat a ton of shit. Well, I don't do either of those workouts so of course I'm not going to look that way. Another thing is that my pain threshold is not as high as the dudes who do those workouts. That does not mean that P90X is weak by any means. Its all about you.
Well yesterday I think I probably had the best comment ever left on this post. Here is what the guy said. (This is him in the photo bench pressing.)
"thanks, Just a note. My beautiful girlfriend and I started p90x yesterday WOW, I am a competitive powerlifter 5′10 235lbs. I bench 430 lbs. deadlift 640lbs. also I have a 36″ waist I’m not one of those potbelied power guys, and after the workout yesterday not only was I sweating like a motherf#@$%^ but I puked, rather explosively. This program rules."
I laughed my ass off when I read that. I think the last time I puked "explosively" did not involve working out but only involved drinking too much back in college.
What this should show everybody is that P90X is not all about lifting tons of weight to put on as much muscle mass as possible. This is about getting into shape. Here is a guy who is two, maybe three times as strong as me saying he's getting his butt kicked with the P90X Chest and Back workout.
Richie has definitely set the bar. Anything less than explosive puke while working out with P90X is considered failure.

My name is Brad Gibala. In 2007 I was introduced to P90X by a friend training for the Marines. I didn't know it at the time but that moment changed my life. Since then I've become a full time

It has been my experience that any “weightlifter” who talks crap about P90X has NEVER done P90X. I have yet to meet anyone who isn’t thoroughly humbled by day 1 of P90X. They know nothing about what they speak….and therefore….are complete morons. P90X is the best exercise program EVER….and EVERYONE benefits from it whether you are a 100 lbs woman or a 300 lb bodybuilder.

I agree completely and like how you use the word “humble” to describe Day 1.

Let me add…P90X if followed by the proper diet and supplement regiment on it’s own can and will get you ready for a bodybuilding contest(natural)on at lease the local and state level.
There is a guy who placed top 5 in the Mr. Trenton contest and trained at home with P90X and resistance cables only.
He was however averaging 500 reps of pushups on the chest days and 200 reps on chins.
Horton may not be ever popular among the “hard core” bodybuilding groups and maybe bodybuilders and powerlifters in general don’t agree with P90X.
The program benefits everyone…that includes bodybuilders, strength trainers, MMA guys and fighters.
Try it before you comment.

Thanks for the input and the story. I tried to find the story but nothing came up in Google. If you have a link could you leave it here. You’re comment is right on. P90X is for everybody regardless of your current level of fitness.

Yeah I have always wanted to be a bodybuilder. I have worked myself beyond muscle fatigue and muscle failure. I am almost 15 years old and I could not be in better shape. Well yeah I could be in better shape I got a 6 pack and some arms with veins and stuff like that, but want to get a 8 pack, some big pecs, big shoulders, and a big back. P90x probably isn’t for me cause I am such a small n I barely weigh 120 pounds, but then again I am short sooooo idk. I am only 5 “3 or ’5 “4
