About

Hello There! Welcome to my site!

My name is Brad Gibala and I started this website first off as a daily journal to remind me of what workouts I had been doing and my progress. I usually post to it a couple times a week as I do my best to stay on top of my own personal fitness. A little background on me. I grew up and still live in the suburbs of Detroit. Being healthy was not a big problem for me growing up because I did a lot of normal activities kids do like playing sports. My problem was getting into shape to excel at the sports I played. This went on through out my teenage years and then into college. I was never over weight but I should have been stronger and faster for the amount of sports I played. My theory at the time was that playing the games was my workout. This was wrong. I needed to workout to be ready for the game.

After graduating from college I left Michigan and moved out to Colorado to get out and see some new things. The first thing I noticed was that I had problems breathing in the thin air out there. It was even worse when I would go skiing with my friends. A large amount of people out there run and bike. I decided to start running, not to get into shape but just to be able to breath. After awhile I started going farther than my 1 mile run and turned them into 2, then 3 and then ended up doing my first 10k called the Bolder Boulder. I was in pretty good shape for my standards at the time.

I left Colorado and headed over to Europe for a couple months and then ended back in Michigan. I kept up with the running. I made it a goal of mine to run a marathon. Four months later I did the Detroit Marathon in 4:20:01. Yup, I cried when I finished.

After finishing the marathon I searched for my next fitness endeavor. About 6 months went by and a friend of mine who was training for the Marines introduced me to P90X. Even though I was in great cardio shape I was not strong. I could barely do 2 chin ups when I first started the program. P90X was the kick in the butt I needed. It taught me what real working out was all about. I enjoyed all of the workouts and could see major improvements. Check out my P90X Results to see my before and after photos.

I still work out with P90X and throw in other workouts like swimming, running, and biking. I want to do a triathlon soon so I need to work on those. In the mean time I have signed up to be a Beachbody Coach. This way it makes me stay focused on my health while helping other people reach their fitness goals.
